IICRC Online Exam FAQs and Tips
You can register as early as 21 days before class begins.
You must take your exam within 45 days after your class ends.
The IICRC exam fee is $80, paid directly to the IICRC during registration.
You will receive your exam link 1–3 business days after registering with IICRC.
Your instructor or training provider will guide you through the IICRC exam registration process. Once registered, you'll receive a confirmation and setup instructions.
You must use a laptop or desktop with Windows 10+ or macOS 10.15+.
No. Phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and Surface devices are not allowed.
Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge only.
It's not recommended. Company firewalls and privacy settings can block the webcam and screen recording features.
You need a minimum of 2 Mbps upload/download speed. Test it at speedtest.net
- Enable pop-ups for iicrc.onlinetestportal.com
- Make sure your webcam and mic work properly
- Disconnect extra monitors
- Restart your device before the test
- Talking to others or using a reader not approved by IICRC
- Using notes, manuals, phones, search engines, or AI tools
- Leaving your seat 3+ times or being gone 10+ minutes
- Covering or disabling your webcam/mic
- Using any other computer or electronic device
- Failing to record the screen and webcam properly

- Click “Attempt Exam Now” on the exam portal
- Take a photo of yourself with your photo ID
- Start the webcam and screen recording
- Share your entire screen (click the screen image first if the Share button is grayed out)
- Click through all required permission pop-ups

Yes! Do NOT close the pop-up box that says “DO NOT CLOSE THIS BOX.” It’s required for monitoring.
No. Talking to others is strictly prohibited and will result in automatic disqualification. The only exception is if you’ve been approved by IICRC for an ADA accommodation. If you're expecting an emergency call, you may answer briefly — but you must not discuss the exam or leave your screen.
No. Your entire screen is being recorded. You must only have the exam window open. Opening anything else will disqualify your attempt.
No. You must disconnect all extra monitors before you begin. Multiple screens may block your exam or flag it for review.
Brief bathroom breaks are allowed, but do not leave more than 2 times or for more than 10 minutes total. Otherwise, you may be disqualified.
Some webcams stop recording if there’s no sound. Keep a low background noise (like soft music or a ticking clock) to avoid this issue.
Closing the box labeled “DO NOT CLOSE THIS BOX” will stop your webcam and screen recording. This may disqualify your exam.
Most IICRC exams are closed-book. Your instructor will let you know if exceptions apply.
Yes. You may retake the exam up to 3 times by re-registering and paying the $80 fee each time. After 3 attempts, you must retake the course.
