The Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Safety Training course provides essential safety instruction for cleaning and restoration professionals who may reasonably anticipate contact with blood, bodily fluids, or other potentially infectious materials during their work. These exposures can occur while performing trauma cleanup, biohazard remediation, hoarding cleanup, or other restoration activities involving contaminated environments.

This two-hour training introduces the hazards associated with bloodborne pathogens and teaches workers how to protect themselves and others through proper safety practices, personal protective equipment, and exposure control procedures. The course emphasizes hazard awareness, prevention strategies, and workplace protocols designed to reduce the risk of occupational exposure.

Bloodborne pathogens training is required under OSHA regulations for employees whose job duties may involve exposure to potentially infectious materials. Employers must provide this training at the time of initial assignment, annually thereafter, and whenever new tasks or procedures affect a worker’s occupational exposure.

This course is an approved IICRC Continuing Education Course (CEC) and qualifies for 2 IICRC Continuing Education Credits upon successful completion.

Students who complete the training will receive a Restoration Certified Certificate of Completion along with safety training verification documentation that complies with most government occupational safety and hazard regulatory programs.

This two-hour course provides focused, practical safety training designed specifically for cleaning and restoration professionals. Instruction combines clear explanations of workplace hazards with real-world examples to help technicians understand how exposure can occur and how to prevent it.

Students learn how to recognize potential biohazards, properly use protective equipment, follow exposure control procedures, and respond appropriately in the event of an exposure incident. The training emphasizes practical safety procedures that can be immediately applied on restoration jobsites.

During this course, students will gain practical knowledge and safety awareness in the following areas:

  • Understanding what bloodborne pathogens are
  • Types of bloodborne microorganisms and diseases
  • How transmission of infectious materials can occur
  • Proper use of basic personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Universal precautions and infection control practices
  • Exposure control plans and workplace procedures
  • Safe workplace practices for handling potentially infectious materials
  • Proper response procedures when an exposure incident occurs
  • Employer and employee responsibilities related to workplace safety

Bloodborne Pathogens training teaches workers how to recognize and protect themselves from exposure to infectious microorganisms that may be present in blood or other potentially infectious materials encountered during cleaning or restoration work.

This course is designed for cleaning and restoration technicians, trauma and crime scene cleanup workers, biohazard remediation professionals, janitorial staff, and any worker who may reasonably anticipate contact with blood or bodily fluids while performing their job duties.

Yes. OSHA regulations require bloodborne pathogens training for employees who may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials as part of their job duties.

Under OSHA regulations, employers must provide this training at the time of initial employment, annually thereafter, and whenever new or modified tasks or procedures affect a worker’s occupational exposure.

No. This is not an IICRC certification course. However, it is an approved IICRC Continuing Education Course.

This course qualifies for 2 IICRC Continuing Education Credits (CECs) upon successful completion.

No. This course does not require a certification exam.

Yes. Students who complete the training will receive a Restoration Certified Certificate of Completion along with safety training verification documentation.

Yes. This course is appropriate for both new and experienced workers who may encounter potentially infectious materials in the workplace.

Students who complete BBP training often continue their education with related safety and remediation courses, such as:

  • IICRC Trauma and Crime Scene Technician (TCST)
  • IICRC Health and Safety Technician (HST)
  • Hoarding Cleanup & Mass Contents Manipulation training
  • Meth Lab Decontamination training

This training helps workers understand how to recognize and prevent exposure to infectious materials, supports OSHA compliance, improves jobsite safety practices, and provides documentation verifying professional safety training.
