The truth is, your first IICRC training course should align with your role, your goals, and the type of work you want to be known for. Here’s a breakdown to help you find the right starting point based on your interest in water damage restoration training and your career path.

If You Are Interested in Water Damage Restoration:

Start with WRT: For most newcomers, the IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course is the best place to begin.

WRT teaches the science of drying structures, identifying IICRC water categories and classes, using moisture meters, understanding psychrometrics, and documenting your work. This class lays the foundation for nearly every other IICRC-approved water damage course and is often a prerequisite for more advanced courses.
